The 10 Influential Leaders in Education

ISHK provides the best of both worlds. Whilst, undeniably Australian in culture and feel, it is also a truly international community, catering to 1,100 students from over 25 different nationalities. Founded in 1995, AISHK is a non-profit, co-educational day school for students from Preparatory to Year 12 and, also provides a Reception (K2) kindergarten class.

Operating on an Australian school year, AISHK is the only school in Hong Kong to utilise the Australian curriculum, with the option for senior students to study either the New South Wales Higher School Certificate (NSW HSC) or the International Baccalaureate Diploma (IBDP). In providing the option of two matriculation curriculums, AISHK allows students to easily transition to and from Australia and around the world as confident, prepared and adept young people. Results achieved by graduates in both the HSC and IBDP are consistently outstanding and the school is committed to providing an environment which truly balances academic excellence and student well-being.

AISHK is a friendly, happy and caring school where the students love coming to school and engaging and learning with their friends and teachers. Parents also, are welcomed and are actively supportive of the school. AISHK is truly a community school representing Australians and internationally mobile families living in Hong Kong.

For many students and their families, facing the prospect of relocation or changing schools can be daunting and sometimes stressful but at AISHK anyone will readily find a welcome waiting for them.

AISHK proceeds with a mission to provide a world class international school where students achieve their personal best and graduate as skilled, influential, compassionate and responsible citizens. AISHK is committed to cohesion and diversity, dedication to service learning, developing students intellectually, socially, physically and ethically in harmony with Australian values.

Developing a global and positive outlook

AISHK is governed by the Australian International School Foundation Limited (AISFL), a charitable status body which provides guardianship for the School’s future. The Foundation Board has permanent representation from key Australian organisations in Hong Kong.

AISHK is led by the Head of School, who is supported in this task by the School Executive. Their purpose is to advise and report to the Board with regard to the School’s Strategic Development Plan, School Management, Goals and Key Performance indicators. This team also manages the day-to-day operations and optimise learning and teaching opportunities for all students and plan strategically for the future.

The entire AISHK community works together with energy, foresight and drive to ensure a valued, balanced school experience which continues to be recognised for its warmth, energy and excellence.

Extra-Curricular Activities

AISHK believes in providing students with all-round development and an opportunity to develop their interests and passions. That’s why AISHK offers over 80 varied Extra Curricular Activities (ECAs) related to sports, performing and creative arts, STEM, academics, community activities and more.

Coordinated by both AISHK staff and external vendors, held at AISHK’s outstanding, on-campus facilities, all our ECAs are provided to encourage a sense of enjoyment and achievement, promote teamwork and build friendships.

Career Development

The Career Development team at AISHK comprises three members of staff who provide career counselling and advice to Secondary students as they progress through their Secondary years. The guidance provided evolves with each year level catered to the students’ future education and career aspirations. Guidance services include individual meetings, the annual Tertiary and Careers Expo, designated Careers Advisor per student from Year 9 and a two-week Work Experience program in year 10. In Years 11 and 12, Careers Advisors hold individual meetings with students to discuss post-school options and to develop a plan of action, focused on applications for university courses and other tertiary studies.

Student Wellbeing

Highly dedicated to balancing academic excellence and student wellbeing, AISHK continually develops, enhances and implements support structures, guidelines and activities which intrinsically align wellbeing with the curriculum, mission, values and principles of the school.

AISHK is committed to providing a safe, respectful and consistent environment for students and staff, so that all members of the school community can flourish and advance the social, emotional and academic capabilities needed to succeed at school and at home.
